ECG Basics for Non-Cardiology Staff

This module introduces non-cardiology nursing staff to the foundational concepts of cardiac electrophysiology and how the heart's electrical activity is captured on an electrocardiogram (ECG). Learners begin by exploring the heart's intrinsic electrical system, starting at the sinoatrial (SA) node — the natural pacemaker — located in the right atrium. The impulse travels through the atria, reaches the atrioventricular (AV) node where it is briefly delayed to allow ventricular filling, then continues down the bundle of His, the right and left bundle branches, and finally through the Purkinje fibers to produce coordinated ventricular contraction.
